Südwolle Spring/Summer 2027 weaving yarn collection

Lightness, movement, and forward-thinking technologies

For the Spring/Summer 2027 weaving yarn collection, we introduce two themes that bring together nature, innovation, and design: Solar Drift and SWLab

Both are rooted in the versatility of Merino wool, yet each takes a different path: one celebrating seasonal adaptability, the other exploring new ideas.

Solar Drift is inspired by light and movement. Its yarns are designed for fabrics that feel fresh, comfortable and versatile throughout the seasons. SWLab is a special selection of yarns in development that pushes the boundaries of Merino wool blend yarns through visionary experimentation and expanding weaving possibilities.

Solar Drift: Summer in every strand

Let’s take a closer look at the fibres and technologies used for the Solar Drift collection:

  • Linen adds natural coolness and durability. This fibre comes to life in qualities like Peschici Nm 42/1 Z 600, made of 53% wool 18,4 μ, 24% silk and 23% linen creating a fabric that feels airy and breathable.

  • Mohair adds a touch of luminous colour and resilience to the mix. Oropa RMS (86% Super Kid Cape Mohair RMS certified, 14% linen) shows how brilliance and strength can meet in one refined yarn.

  • Performance blends extend durability and flexibility of the yarn and fabric produced with it. Qualities like SRP Cord-Wool Stretch (58% wool 20.5 µ, 38% CORDURA® polyamide, 4% LYCRA®) are designed to create fabrics that must withstand wear while remaining comfortable and elastic.
Betaspun® meets bio-based

A highlight within Solar Drift is our advanced Betaspun® technology. For this collection, we developed a 100% bio-based Betaspun® yarn:

Fedaia Betaspun® Nm 68/1, made with 61.4% wool 17.5 µ TEC and 38.6% cotton NE 100. It is created by wrapping a fine cotton filament around a Merino core and thus combining natural fibres only. The result is a yarn with superior durability, excellent pilling performance, and a refined surface, enabling wool to enter applications once dominated by synthetics.

Light green fabric with subtle folds and creases, creating a soft, textured appearance. The words Fedaia Betaspun® are printed in white in the lower right corner.

Inspiration for the seasons ahead

The launch is accompanied by the latest edition of The Wool Chronicle, Suedwolle Group’s seasonal publication for designers and industry partners. It offers deeper insight into the collection’s inspirations, techniques, and applications.
